O Allah, guide us aright along with those who have been rightly guided and grant us safety along with those that have been granted safety and support us along with those that have been supported and add Your Blessings to what You have given us and save us from the harmful effects of what You have ordained ( i.e. lest I should be wanting in cheerfully submitting to your Decrees) as You alone disposes and no one can dispose against You. Anyone who is under Your Protection cannot be lowered and anyone who is opposed by You cannot gain dignity; our Lord; You are full of blessings and Most High, we beg forgiveness from You and repent before You and may the blessings of Allah be showered on the Holy Prophet (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam).

O Allah, forgive us and the believing men and women and Muslim men and women, unite their hearts with mutual love, set right their mutual affairs and help them against theirs and Your enemy. O Allah, let Your curse be on those unbelievers who prevent people from treading Your path, who reject Your prophets and fight Your chosen ones. O Allah, make difficult their plans, shake their feet and give them such punishment which is not turned away from a sinning people.

METHOD OF QUNOOT-E-NAAZILA
• In Fajr Salaat, after the Ruku of the second Rakaat, the Imaam will make audible Du’aa. The Muqtadee (followers) will listen to the Du’aa and say, ‘Aameen’ softly during the pauses of the Imaam’s Du’aa. (Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah vol.2 pg.138)
• The Muqtadis will not recite the Du’aa with the Imaam. (I’elaa-us-Sunan vol.6 pg.120; Idaratul Qur’aan)
• The Imaam and the Muqtadis should not raise their hands during the Du’aa. The hands should be left by their sides. (Shaami vol.2 pg.9; HM Saeed)
• Upon completion of the Du’aa, they will go into Sajdah and complete the Salaat as normal.
1. Qunoot-e-Naazila may be recited by the Imaam during Fajr Salaat. A Munfarid (person performing Fardh Salaat individually) may not recite Qunoot-e-Naazila. (Shaami vol.2 pg.11; HM Saeed)
2. One may also recite Qunoot-e-Naazila in Nafl Salaat, performed individually during the night. (Fataawa Mahmoodiya vol.2 pg.138)
3. Females may also recite Qunoot-e-Naazila in Nafl Salaat.

THE QUNOOT (DU’AA)
Hadhrat Ibn Abbaas (Radhiallaahu Anhu) narrates: Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) would teach us the following Du’aa to be recited in the Salaat of Fajr:
refer http://www.alinaam.org.za
for arabic script of the du’aa
The Ulama have advised that the Du’aa should be according to the prevailing situation. (Subul-salaam vol.1 pg.186; Darun Nashril Kitaab)

Therefore, other Du’aas narrated in the Qur’aan or Hadith or such Du’aas not resembling Kalaamun-Naas (such speech that can be sought from people as well) may be recited in Arabic. To recite Du’aas during Salaat in any other language is Makrooh-e-Tahrimi. (Shami vol.1 pg.524;HM Saeed)

DARUL IFTA – MADRASAH IN’AAMIYYAH, CAMPERDOWN

Qunoot – E – Naazilah

At these trying times it is highly recommended to read the Qunoot-e-Naazilah. Whenever the Muslim Community is afflicted with some hardship then Qunoot-E-Naazilah should be recited in the Fajr Salaat.
Method: After the Ruku’ of the second rakaat, while standing in the position known as Qaumah, the Qunoot should be read in a voice lower in tone than that when reciting the Qiraat. The Muqtadees should place their hands at the side and say Ameen at the proper juncture.
Note: Women may also recite this dua softly.
One may recite it as often as possible as a dua, in salaah and out of salaah.

Hadith 1

Hadhrat Nu’maan ibn Basheer (Radhiallaahu Anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, ‘You will see the believers in their mutual mercy for one another, mutual love for one another, and mutual companion for one another like a body. When one limb (of the body) complains, that effects the entire body by being awake and having fever.’ (Mishkaat pg.422; Qadeemi)

Hadith 2

Hadhrat Abu Musa (Radhiallaahu Anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, ‘A believer to a believer is like a building that strengthens one another (with each brick).’ (Ibid)

Hadith 3

Hadhrat Ibn Umar (Radhiallaahu Anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, ‘A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim, so do not oppress him and do not hand him over (to the mercy of the enemies when he is in trouble).’ (Ibid)

Hadith 4

Hadhrat Aamir ibn Maalik, the leader of the tribe of Bani Sulaym requested the help of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) against the enemies of his tribe. Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) accepted his request and sent seventy Sahaaba (Radhiallaahu Anhum) who were Qurraa (experts in the recitation of the noble Qur’aan). The tribe of Banu Sulaym surrounded these Sahaaba (Radhiallaahu Anhum) by a place called Bir Ma’oona and murdered them. Jibraaeel (Alayhis salaam) informed Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) of the incident and conveyed to him the heartfelt message of the Qurraa: ‘Inform our people that we met our Rabb. He was pleased with us and (in turn) pleased us.’
This incident caused great grief to Rasulullah. Abdullah ibn Mas’ood (Radhiallaahu Anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) recited Qunoot Naazila for one month continuously cursing the tribe of Bani Sulaym. (Bukhari vol.2 pg.586; )
In view of the above, the Fuqah
aa have ruled that when the Ummat is in a crisis, they should follow the Sunnah practise of Qunoot-e-Naazila and make Du’aa for the Ummah.Once again we are at crossroads and we should resort to the Sunnat practise of Qunoot-e-Naazila.

METHOD OF QUNOOT-E-NAAZILA

In Fajr Salaat, after the Ruku of the second Rakaat, the Imaam will make audible Du’aa. The Muqtadee (followers) will listen to the Du’aa and say, ‘Aameen’ softly during the pauses of the Imaam’s Du’aa. (Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah vol.2 pg.138)

The Muqtadis will not recite the Du’aa with the Imaam. (I’elaa-us-Sunan vol.6 pg.120; Idaratul Qur’aan)

The Imaam and the Muqtadis should not raise their hands during the Du’aa. The hands should be left by their sides. (Shaami vol.2 pg.9; HM Saeed)

Upon completion of the Du’aa, they will go into Sajdah and complete the Salaat as normal.

THE QUNOOT (DU’AA):

Hadhrat Ibn Abbaas (Radhiallaahu Anhu) narrates: Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) would teach us the following Du’aa to be recited in the Salaat of Fajr:

Translation : O Allah, guide us aright along with those who have been rightly guided and grant us safety along with those that have been granted safety and support us along with those that have been supported and add Your Blessings to what You have given us and save us from the harmful effects of what You have ordained ( i.e. lest I should be wanting in cheerfully submitting to your Decrees) as You alone disposes and no one can dispose against You. Du’aa al-Qunoot

Du’aa al-Qunoot

Supplicating to Allaah (swt) and seeking his forgiveness and mercy is a duty upon every Muslim, and is described in numerous ahaadeeth (sayings of the Prophet [saw]) to be the weapon of the believer and ‘The Worship’, as it is a ritual act in Islaam which if offered to anything other than Allaah will take one outside the fold of Islaam. The messenger Muhammad (saw) used to recite Du’aa al-Qunoot during Salaat ul-Fajr, Witr and sometimes during other prayers throughout the year. It is one of those Sunnah’s (Prophetic traditions) which, unfortunately today has been deserted by many Muslims despite the fact that he would make Qunoot regularly and almost on a daily basis. In fact it is Fard al-Kifaayah (sufficient duty) to be offered in Salaat ul-Fajr in Jamaa’ah (at the Masjid) from time to time (not every single Salaah). And it is recommended to recite in the Witr Salaah. It has been narrated in Abou Daawud that the messenger of Allaah (saw) used to recite al-Qunoot whenever he wanted to supplicate against someone (for their destruction) or for someone (the Mujaahideen and sincere Muslims). He would perform the Qunoot in the last Rik’ah of the Salaah after performing Rukoo’ and saying ‘Sami’allaahu liman hamidah – Allaah listens to those who praise him’; then raise his hands (whilst still focusing on the place of Sujood) and supplicate the Qunoot aloud, after which he would then make Sujood and conclude the prayer.Qunoot has many linguistic meanings, such as humility, obedience and devotion. However, it is more understood to be a special du’aa (supplication) which is recited during the prayer which should only be done in the Arabic language. Below is the Qunoot which the messenger of Allaah (saw) used to recite in his prayer. It is important to note that there are many different versions of this du’aa (different narrations), all of which are Saheeh (authentic) and either of them would do. We have also included (next to the transliteration) what to say after the Imaam (if praying in congregation) in order to interact with the du’aa.

Allaahummahdinaa feeman hadait (Aameen),Wa ‘aafinaa feeman ‘aafait (Aameen),Watawallanaa feeman tawallait (Aameen),Wabaarik lanallaahumma feemaa a’atait (Aameen),Waqinaa wasrif ‘annaa bi-fadlika sharra maa qadait (Aameen),Fa-innaka taqdie bil-Haqqi walaa yuqdaa ‘alaik (Haqqaa),Wa-innahu laa yadhillu man waalait, walaa ya’izzu man ‘aadait (Haqqaa),Tabaarakta rabbanaa wata’aalait (Yaa Allaah),Lakal-hamdu ‘alaa maa qadait (al-Hamdulillaah),Nastaghfiruk-allaahumma wanatoobu ilaik (Astaghfirullaah).

Oh Allaah guide us along with those whom you have guided,And pardon us along with those who you have pardoned,Be an ally to us along with those whom you have allied with,And bless us Oh Allaah with that which you have bestowed upon us,And save us from the evil of what you have decreed,For indeed you decree and none can influence you,And he is not humiliated whom you have befriended, nor is he honoured who is your enemy,Blessed are you, O Lord and Exalted,To you is all the Praise on what you have decreed,We seek your forgiveness Oh Allaah and turn in repentance to you. After reciting this du’aa one can continue supplicating to his Lord until he is content. It is important to note though that whenever you are praying in Jamaa’ah (collectively), the supplications should be in plural form, for example one should say ‘Allaahumma innaa nas-aluka… (Oh Allaah we ask you for…)’, rather than saying ‘Allaahumma innie as-aluka… (Oh Allaah I ask you for)’ which is in the singular form. The singular forms of any du’aa should only recited when you are praying alone and not in Jamaa’ah, however the plural form of any du’aa can be recited alone and/or in Jamaa’ah. For this reason we have provided the above Qunoot in the plural form, for you to recite by yourself or in congregation. However, any singular form verses (from the Qur’aan) can be recited alone and/or in Jamaa’ah, but those who are following the Imaam should repeat the verse after him whilst he is saying it.During the time of Fitnah (trials) it becomes recommended (or obligatory during high level of fitnah) to recite Du’aa al-Qunoot in the prayer. One is obliged to make du’aa for the Mujaahideen and sincerely supplicate to Allaah to grant the Muslim Ummah victory over the enemies of Islaam and make this deen dominate the East and the West. It is always better in Islaam to prefer others above yourself, therefore you should make du’aa for yourself last, after you have asked Allaah (swt) to help others i.e. the Mujaahideen and the Scholars. Below are some examples which you can recite in order to ask Allaah (swt) to help and support the Warriors of Islaam.

اللـَّــهـُــمَّ ذ ُدْ وَرُدَّ عـَــنـْــهـُــمْ
Allaahumma dhud wa-rudda ‘anhum,Oh Allaah be with them and protect themThese are just some examples which you can use in your supplications.
Please remember that the minimum we can do for our brothers and sisters who are facing attack by the Kuffaar is to make du’aa for them, and this is something which Allaah (swt) will account us for on the Day of Judgement. After supplicating for the Muslim Ummah we recommend that you seek guidance and forgiveness for all your sins, and you can memorise some of the examples which the messenger of Allaah (saw) left behind for us by looking into authentic books of supplications, which contain no innovations or superstitions etc.
